The Sun Sets on the Grid

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Yet another reason to love the grid in New York City: tonight the sun will set so that it will align precisely with the Manhattan street grid and illuminate both the north and south sides of every cross street. Can you imagine what this will look like? I've never seen it before and would even consider visiting NYC next year at this time to see it. If you're in the NYC you will be able to see the half sun on the grid this evening at 8:17 pm EDT, the full sun set on May 30th at 8:16 pm EDT, as well as July 11 at 8:24 pm EDT. Please make me a photo of it if you're there in person, I would love to see it.

New Movie

I am beside myself with excitement for the latest Wes Anderson film to come out called 'Moonrise Kingdom.' Did you ever think about running away when you where a kid?

Hula Friday!!!

Friday, May 25, 2012

Happy weekend friends - what do you have planned for this fine May weekend? I'm not sure what's happening on St Thomas for fun this weekend or what Eric and I will end up doing. I have a couple of weddings to photograph but nothing booked for Sunday!

This week I added a Hula Girl to my car, don't you just love her? She makes it feel like I'm on a road trip even when I'm just going to check the mail in Tutu. It's all about the little things ;)

Mambo

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Well, I finally found Mambo a bed that she really likes....sshhhh, don't tell her it's really a dog bed. The only way I got her to sleep in it is by placing it right next to my desk, so this is what I get to look at while I'm editing photographs and sending out emails. I love her!!!

PS I'm sure this is where she would rather sleep, here.

Ummm.....

Travel Fantasy: French Riviera

How amazing would it be to spend the week in this fancy villa called Semaphore? Semaphore is located in the heart of the Cap Benat domain and over looks the Mediterranean. Have you ever been to the French Riviera?

PS More fancy villas to rent in the French Riviera here.

Making Mondays Magical.

Monday, May 21, 2012

How was your weekend? I spent a little time working, had brunch here one day, a little time playing on the beach with friends, and plan on spending Monday evening here. This weekend I noticed that it is starting to feel a little warmer in the US Virgin Islands, it must be the start of summer time. So, I started a new pin board on Pinterest full of refreshing summer cocktail recipes here, thought this would also spice up a Monday :) Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!

PS The first drink is a 'Live Basil Gimlet' and the second is a 'Cherry Caipirissima'

Last week a friend asked me to help her with a photo assignment using a reflector and a model. I was able to make a few photographs too!!! It was a beautiful evening at Sapphire's point on St Thomas.
A few more photos from this shoot here.

Weekend Dreaming

Friday, May 18, 2012

How was your week friends - are you ready for the weekend? I had great week and I'm excited to have a day off this weekend. I would love to be checking into the Ritz Carlton on St Thomas this weekend, wouldn't it be dreamy to float in their swimming pool Saturday afternoon? I photographed a wedding reception here last week and I've been dreaming about spending an afternoon relaxing on the Ritz Carlton's property since.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!!!

St Thomas: Post Cards from the Past

There have been more post on Facebook of historical St Thomas photographs. I find it amazing that these post cards are over 100 years old and that I recognize some of the buildings, such an incredible walk back in time. Would you want to have experienced St Thomas back in the day ridding a horse down Maine Street?

P.S.  More historical photos of St Thomas HERE.
