Yet another reason to love the grid in New York City: tonight the sun will set so that it will align precisely with the Manhattan street grid and illuminate both the north and south sides of every cross street. Can you imagine what this will look like? I've never seen it before and would even consider visiting NYC next year at this time to see it. If you're in the NYC you will be able to see the half sun on the grid this evening at 8:17 pm EDT, the full sun set on May 30th at 8:16 pm EDT, as well as July 11 at 8:24 pm EDT. Please make me a photo of it if you're there in person, I would love to see it.

Last night we went for a sunset sail with Captain Fred and First Mate Renee on Sail Pepper, it was amazing! Sail Pepper is a yellow 23’ traditional Island Sloop that is moored at Little Maho Bay on St John and I’ve been eyeing it for the last year from Francis Beach. Sail Pepper can accommodate up to 6 passengers and sails beautifully. Renee served a delicious rum drink with local juices that she called a “Bob Marley.”
We had such a great time sailing and watching the sunset on Sail Pepper. I highly recommend this experience to anyone vacationing on St John, we’re looking forward to doing it again.
Captain Fred was kind enough to drop us off on our beach, thank you!!!

Ohhh weeee, wouldn't this be a romantic way to start your weekend by having Friday night dinner out here floating on the ocean and watching the sunset with your love? So sweet!!!
When was the last time you watched the sunset?
I do it quite a lot, sunset weddings are very popular on the beach of St John. The sunset in the Virgin Islands is a little different then in the states because we are so close to the equator it sets very fast.
Hope you find time to watch the sunset this weekend.
Enjoy my friends.

Do you have anything romantic planned this weekend?
I can’t think of anything more lovely than sitting with Eric on a beach and watching the sunset with a glass of champagne in my hand. What can I say, I really love the simple things.
I also can’t stop myself from wondering if I’m going to see the “green flash.” Have you ever seen the “green flash?” I’m dieing to see it. The first time I ever heard of it was when it was mentioned in “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Come to find out that it really does occur and that people have photographs to prove this amazing phenomenon at sunset as well as sunrise.
Do you remember in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” what they say the green flash signals?
This is a fun little clip of the making of the underwater scene in “At Worlds End.”

There is something so magical about a sunburst in a photograph. I love sun flares, the color of light before it sets, and being in the yard! It’s the little things that make life beautiful.

What a wonderful weekend at home on St. John, beautiful weather and great friends. Eric's father came over from St. Thomas and we all set off in the Boston Whaler to find lobsters, snorkel, and enjoy the sunshine along the North Shore of St. John.
Started at our beach Francis Bay.
Snorkeled at Denis Beach.
Cinnamon Beach.
Rooster hunting around the house, so we can sleep in past 4 a.m.
