Spring has started here on St John.
It’s the first time this year that the water has felt warm enough to go for a swim.

Spring has started here on St John. It feels a little warmer and I’ve noticed that the Frangipani, Plumeria, is starting to come back to life in the yard. Frangipani is not only fun to say but also smells amazing. The Frangipani Flowers are most fragrant at night for pollination and have a poisonous milky sap that will irritate the skin and eyes if exposed to it. I’m not sure what these caterpillars are called but they will at one point cover the entire tree and eat every leaf. It’s a beautiful process watching the Frangipani come back to life, covered in green leaves, delightful flowers, and even these amazing Frangipani Caterpillars. Let the cycle begin.

Luca and Francesco Cavalli-Sforza says,

“Happiness does not come automatically.
It is not a gift that good fortune bestows upon us and a reversal of fortune takes back.
It depends on us alone.
One does not become happy overnight, but with patient labor, bay after day.
Happiness is constructed, and that requires effort and time.
In order to become happy, we have to learn how to change ourselves.”

“Always do what you want, and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
Dr. Seuss

I know, I know, I haven’t been on Sage Island in a while. I’ve been over here on this Blog Page working all week. Be back soon!

Can you imagine waking up to this view every morning?
Well, Eric’s father does; I find this view both inspiring and distractingly breathtaking. This view is from Mountain Top on St Thomas of Magen’s Bay.

In this photograph you can see St. John; it’s the island that has a bunch of houses on only one side because most of the island is national park (that’s where I live.)

Today I’m working in the office on St. John doing taxes, marketing, and emails.

Here are a few things that I wish I was doing instead:

1. Getting a massage at Drift Away Spa
2. Reading a magazine on one of St John's worlds most beautiful beaches.
3. Doing a day sail with Captain Phil on the Wayward Sailor.
4. It would even be nice to be at the airport, departing on an amazing adventure.

Today my mind keeps wondering and I can’t stay focused on anything long enough to complete it.
I’m thinking a little project with steps to fallow might help because it doesn’t require any creativity or freethinking.
    Like a facial?
My mother recently sent me a wonderful birthday package that included an Herbal Facial Kit by Mountain Rose. This wonderful kit is presented in a carved rosewood box from India and has 5 different steps; herbal steam, cleansing grains, green clay mask, facial oil blend, and flower water toner.
My face and skin feels amazing after this facial treatment!
    Best Sushi on St. Thomas

Watahoshi is my favorite restaurant on St Thomas to eat sushi! It might even be my favorite restaurant on St. Thomas to eat out at.

Watahoshi is located on the beach of Hull Bay and is literally a small shack with maybe 15 barstools, situated right in front of Hull Bay Hideaway. Seating is limited, you should always call ahead to make sure they’re serving and have availability to make a reservation.
Watahoshi is own and operated by a Japanese and American couple.

I think it is the most authentic sushi on St. Thomas; they don’t have anything deep-fried on the menu (smile.) The fish is always fresh, plentiful, and affordable.
Did I mention that I’m a fan of Watahoshi? Please taste it for yourself and let me know what you think.

    My Ming.

Mambo, also known as MEE MEEE.

Mambo and Ming as kittens (notice the baby gate, they where once house cats.)

Three years ago this month I adopted two lovely kittens, brother and sister, Ming and Mambo, from the Humane Society (HS) on St Thomas. I still remember the day I went to the HS and first set eyes on them; they where in a separate cage from all the other cats because they had just been found in the jungle and where extremely feral. Of course I think they’re the best cats in the whole wide world; they have brought so me so much love and joy.

Did you know that you could adopt your own ‘island pet’ and take it home with you on the airplane? Well, it’s true, you can! Please visit the HS website at http://www.hsstt.com there are a lot of pets on St Thomas that are in need of a loving home.
