Do you ever wish you could switch jobs with your significant other just for a day?

My significant other works on a boat and I know for a fact I would do a terrible job but it would be a lot of fun to go to work with him. Every week he takes guests to Virgin Gorda to explore The Baths. The Baths are giant boulders scattered along the shore and are an amazing natural creation to explore by walking through or snorkeling around. I highly recommend that you include it in your next adventure to the Virgin Islands. You can even rent a small guesthouse within the boulders that is wonderful, take a look HERE.

Please tell me about how wonderful your weekend was!
I photographed weddings on St John's beautiful beaches all weekend. I watched the sunset with newly married couples and recorded their very fist moments as husband and wife, it's always a lovely experience.

Since I didn't have the weekend off I'm hoping that Monday will be extra sweet to me.
Here are few links from around the internet that are fun:

I'm in love with these elephant photos HERE.

Wishing my porch could have a little makeover and look like this.

My favorite blog of the week is Miss Moss.

Wedding Flowers, so pretty!

Life size horse puppet show that I want to see in NYC - you will too once you see this video.

I'm loving Adele's song 'Make You Feel My Love' take a look at her video.

This photo of my friends always puts a smile on my face.

Do you have any weekend plans?
This weekend on St John is the 8th Annual Beach-to-Beach Power Swim. Sounds like a lot of fun, anyone going to do this? I wish I could but I'm working all weekend photographing weddings. I had my weekend last Wednesday, just part of the charms of working for myself {smile.}

I hope your weekend is full of smiles and great friends.
XOXO

Can you image...
I found a message in a bottle washed up on the beach?
Just like in the movies!!!
I was so excited to find it I had to bring it home and open it up to see what the note said.  I was expecting the note to say something about being stranded on island and I started to wonder what would make a person write a message in a bottle if they weren’t stranded on an island.
What would your message say?

I think I blinked and the weekend went by.
Might be cause I only had a Sunday, all be it a fun Sunday on St John with the first day of sunshine in a week, a small boat ride on the whaler, a little St John trek, a swim, and brunch at the Donkey Diner. It was a really relaxing day.

How was your weekend?
Here's a little list of fun stuff online to spice up your Monday:

Interview with Rosalind Solomon {a photographer I admire}

TripAdvisor's Top 25 Destinations in the World.

Finished all the Lost episodes this week, yay!!!

Private Island Vacation on Guana Island.

My new favorite Blog: The Burning House

Latest Obsession.

Yummy Mojito Pops.

A hike that I hope to do on Dominica.

Have a great week friends.

I blame it all on the weather.
I’m having one of those weeks where I keep giving myself a little pep talk. Do you ever have those days where you’re so exhausted it feels as though your whole world is about to end because of one little annoyance?  My little annoyance is growing by the bite; it’s a very fast and fat mosquito.

It’s been raining a lot on St John the last couple of weeks, which has created pretty flowers and pestering mosquitoes. I’m ready for the sun to come out and shine.

Maybe we should all do a little dance at the same time?

{I made the photo above when I was living in Spanish Harlem.}

How was your weekend?
I’m really not ready for a Monday even though I took Sunday off and relaxed a bit. I’ve been really busy with photographing weddings this month and it’s been both wonderful and exhausting.
Here’s to another week, hope you all have a wonderful one.

I’ve managed to pull together a little Monday list of fun stuff:

Inspirational photo quotes.

My website was updated this week, take a look.

My favorite new blog of the week is called "one sydney road."

Did you ever draw on the walls with your crayons when you where young?
Sometimes I feel like drawing all over the walls of my house, maybe that’s why I like Banksy so much. Banksy is an English based graffiti artist that isn’t afraid to get in trouble for writing on the wall or saying how he really feels.
I’m a big fan of doing both!

Wow, is it a beautiful day on St John.
I still have those moments in my life where I have to stop in amazement and say to myself, "I can’t believe I really live here and call this place home.”

The photo above was made on Hawksnest Bay Beach.
It was the backdrop for the wedding I photographed this morning.

I hope there is something within your weekend that also takes your breath away.

Are you a cat or a dog person?
I have two cats, Mambo (above) and Ming.
They're a couple of bush cats that I adopted on St Thomas and tried to turn into house cats. Their not like an American house-cat on the way that they will not sit in my lap, they have really independent personalities that require space and respect.
I adore them.

How amazing would it be to spend a week on vacation in a tropical tree house in the jungle? “Tropical Treehouse” is located in the lush hillsides of Rincon’ Puerto Rico offering a different kind of vacation; each tree house is self-sufficient with solar hot water, shower kitchenette, flushing toilet, not to mention a Swiss Family Robinson experience. Prices start at $110 a night this is a link to the Tropical Treehouse website for more information:

Confession, I have arachnophobia!
Last week I started digging in the ground where I have my garden planted in pots, to try something new. Come to find out my garden is infested with tarantulas! Which explains all of those small holes in the ground. Doesn’t really make me feel like getting down on my knees and planting a seed in the ground, if you know what I mean. Of course I know nothing about a tarantula, and I’m thinking these hairy, crawly, monsters are going to fly up onto my face, and with one bite I will die in the backyard.

Since my phobia is getting in the way of my gardening I’ve decided to do a little research.

Come to find out I cannot die from a tarantula bite, if they did bite me it would be more like a bee sting. I also found out that tarantulas might be some of the biggest spiders in the world but they are the least aggressive and really aren’t that dangerous (just scary.) Tarantulas are also very fragile, so they aren’t likely to be jumping up at my face (sigh of relief.)

About.com has a pretty interesting list if you too need more tarantula information: 10 Cool Facts About Tarantulas.

It’s the first Monday of May and that means I’m in wedding photography mode. I spent the last 5 days getting my office in order and tying up loose ends; it took almost 2 days to find the bottom of my desk (no joke.) The good news is that I’m ready to work hard, make a lot of beautiful photos, meet a bunch of couples extremely in love, capture those once in a lifetime moments, and watch the sunset on the beach. I feel so lucky to be where I am in my life; it is really a beautiful place.

Here’s my Monday list – I hope it brings something new, different, or enchanting into your week:

Guest of the Diane Rehm Show made me wonder if this word is relevant today.

Jerry Saltz – The “coolest” man I ever met in Chelsea and he actually has a forum online at the NY Mag where you can ask him a question and he answers it
(about art of course – he’s an art critic.)

Jake Stangel – his photographs make me want to confirm my flight to California for the fall.

Have you seen the St Thomas Blog?

This week’s favorite blog – “Live & Enliven.”

Dried Peaches – I could eat these all day long.
