Today I’m importing the photographs that I made while I was in Sumner Maine visiting my family last week.

Last weeks temperatures dropped and where, without a doubt, some of the coldest days of the year in Maine, but I still had a great time and looking forward to sharing my photographs.

One of the first things I did when I got back to Sweet Bottom on St. John was plant a few seeds that I picked up in Maine. I hope the string beans from Falmouth Maine will grow here on St. John.

P.S. Mambo missed me so much she hasn't left my side :)

So excited about this weekend!
Spending a day relaxing with Eric on Mountain Top in the Hammond Estate on St. Thomas and the next day flying off to see my family in Maine.

The photo above is the bay we live at on St. John, Francis Bay. I call that large beach in the photo home. I am leaving that beautiful beach for a trip home to Maine in January.
That is just how much I love my mom.

I'm having a minor panic attack at the moment.
For some reason I lost my mind and booked a trip to visit my family in Maine in January.
I'm the type of person that gets cold, makes tea and grabs a blanket when the temperature drops to 72 degrees (really, I'm not kidding.) I think the ocean is around 72 degrees at the moment off of St. John and I haven't been able to jump in.
For kicks I just pulled the weather forecast up on the computer to see what is happening in Maine.
It is 7 degrees in Maine! (can you hear the panic?)

A couple photographs of the last time I was in Maine:
my mom's beautiful garden and my father playing the squeeze box.

Just realized that my cats have been tricking me into feeding them a second breakfast. Eric feeds them before he leaves for work.

That explains why Mambo has gotten so fat since our move to St. John. Now she is fallowing me around all day begging, how do I tell her she's on a diet?

Started my weekend a little early today with some beach time and sunshine.
Going to cook some food with friends and spend the evening sitting around a bonfire in the yard.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Today my friend Sarah and I visited the only commercial organic farm  on St. John called Coral Bay Organic Farm. If you have ever been on island I'm sure you have heard of Josephine's Greens. They are the only lettuce greens in the market that look amazingly fresh and are featured on most restaurant menus.

The Coral Bay Organic Farm has 98 different species of plants and over 30 different types of greens growing on 18 acres of land in a small valley on the East Side of St. John. We where able to walk around the farm to see how Josephine grows her garden and make a few photographs. They are open everyday except Monday from 11 am to 4 pm. I highly recommend stopping by to pick up some of her delicious organic greens for a salad and taking a tour of how a garden is grown in the US Virgin Islands.

Coral Bay Organic Farm is located on the same road as the Love City Market. If you see the sign that reads "Tourist info: You Are Lost" - this means you're almost at Josephine's.

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. Let me bring you all up to date:

Christmas:
Eric and I celebrated our first Christmas together and had an amazing time at our home, Sweet Bottom, on St. John. Christmas eve Eric, Rick and I sat around our little Christmas tree and exchanged gifts, drank wine, and ate yummy food. It was perfect and lovely.

For Christmas dinner we had a bunch of friends over for a potluck, followed by a bonfire in the yard with hula hooping. Everyone had a really good time.

Not long after Christmas I got very sick, I went into the hospital on St. Thomas and had my appendix removed. Everything went smooth and I was out of the hospital after 24 hours, able to return to my home. My very good friends that come down every year from Chicago arrived the same day.

New Years:
Well, I was really out of it, on a lot of painkillers so I don't remember it so well, nor did I make any photographs. I brought the New Year in at home with good friends sitting around the table talking and laughing. It is going to be a good Year!!!

I have spent the last two weeks not doing much; taking it easy, being pampered and taken care of by my sweet love. But now I'm ready to get back into things. My good friends are still here visiting and I will be sure to report in on our good times over the next week of playing on St. John.

Hope everyone has had a great holiday season. I'm still working on my New Years Resolutions, gave myself all of  January to make my list. Did you make a New Years Resolution or two??
