I'm in denial that it's Friday.
I just have way too much to do and need a couple more days, I'm going to pretend it's Wednesday. I'm thinking I can get away with it because I live on a little island and everyone always refers to 'the real world' while their here.

Do you have any weekend plans?
Obviously I'm working, but I was thinking of taking off one day and spending the night at Concordia. That is if the rain stops.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

For your next vacation on St John how about staying at Concordia in an Eco Tent?
Before I lived on St John, Concordia was my favorite weekend getaway destination; I always referred to it as ‘luxury camping.’ Concordia is truly an amazing experience, not just another vacation hotel or island getaway. Located on St John’s southeast side of the island, posed on the side of a windy mountain, with an amazing view of the ocean, you can’t help but feel relaxed here. Each eco tent has it’s own solar panel, composting toilet, kitchen, and solar heated shower, that sleep up to 6 adults. The tents do not have a TV, phone, outlets, and most likely your cellphone will not even get a signal, trust me it feels great to disconnect.

If you do decide to leave your eco tent and explore the area there are some amazing sights that you can walk to from the property: Salt Pond Bay Beach, Salt Pond, Drunk Bay, and Ram Head Trail.
Please say “HI!!!” to Claudia for me, if you stay at Concordia.

In this photograph you can see the solar panel in front of the porch and the cistern water system underneath.

In this photo you can see the black barrel that heats the water for a shower.

In this photograph you can see all the new construction that has taken place at Concordia, view from Salt Bay.

Drunk Bay is located on the southeastern side of St. John, the trail is .3 miles past Salt Pond Bay Beach. Drunk Bay is on the windward side of the island, which makes it very rocky; this is not a beach to go swimming at.
The first time I came across Drunk Bay Beach was when I was staying at Concordia for the weekend. As soon as you step onto Drunk Bay Beach you realize how it got its name; from all the rocks and broken coral your feet start to act as though you’ve been at a bar.
Once you step onto Drunk Bay Beach you will also discover all the incredible coral and stone sculptures that people have made. Most of these sculptures are in the forms of people and scattered all along the beach. I really don’t know how this tradition got started but I had a blast photographing the sculptures. I do realize how the tradition of making these happy little coral people keeps on going because there is something about being surrounded by them that compels you to make your own coral person. I definitely recommend making your way out to Drunk Bay Beach on your next visit to St. John.
