Just checking in and giving you a little update: I've been busy with work and haven't had much time to do anything fun to share with you all on Sage Island this last week. The good news is that next week is looking much better and I'm hoping that the weather will be clearing-up. We've had a lot of rain, gray days, Sahara Dust, and ash from Montserrat this last week, which hasn't really been that inspiring for me to go out and make photographs around the USVI.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and to see you all back here on Monday ;)

PS Here are some lovely wedding photographs that I made this week on my wedding blog.

One of my favorite beaches on St Thomas is Platform. It's a small beach with a lot of stairs but there is something about it that's always so peaceful and relaxing. This is why we spent a few hours here on Sunday with some friends. When I first moved to St Thomas, this beach was almost always empty, but it seems as though the word has gotten out and has become a bit more popular.

Have you ever considered buying a house? How about buying a house that's always where you want it to be? I've always been a bit of a gypsy and have never considered buying a house for many reasons, but this boat called Sol Mate has me thinking in a new direction.
Living on a boat would give you so much freedom: a gigantic back yard, new views daily,  new neighbors whenever, less bills, and endless warm sunshine filled days.
Eric got his boat brokering license this year and has just listed Sol Mate at $32K on maritimeyachtsales.com: it's such a pretty boat I'm sure it will be sold soon!

So, what do you say would you like to have lunch with me poolside today? We could go for a swim before we eat and enjoy the view of downtown St Thomas after with some fresh ice-tea.
I love finding new places to eat and I love finding new places that are just around the corner from where I live, like the photo above. Mafolie Hotel & Restaurant offers a simple grilled lunch at their pool and it's my latest find in the neighborhood. I think I could spend the entire afternoon here today!

PS This is close by and might be fun to do after lunch.

I'm so very very excited for the weekend to be here; it was one of those weeks. Do you have anything planned for the weekend or for St Patricks day? I would really like to spend one day doing NOTHING.... I'm not sure if that's possible. We have a BBQ planned with our wonderful neighbors and I'm sure at some point we'll make it to the beach. The good news is that I don't have any weddings to photographs and can enjoy a little relaxation.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

This week I had a lot of little frustrations with things not working correctly in my office like my mouse got the jitters and finding out that I will need to upgrade my operation system on the computer. So, when Eric asked me if I would come out for a daysail to be his first-mate, I jumped at the chance to put some separation between me and the computer. I had a blast (as always) being out on the ocean sailing and got the chance to meet a couple of wonderful people visiting from Pittsburgh, but I have a huge learning curve if I was to change careers (huge.)
I had a whole new appreciation for what I do and a little extra enthusiasm the next day I was sitting at the computer editing photographs. I also understood why Eric is so exhausted when he gets home from work. Have you ever gone to work with your partner? Would you want to change careers or do you love what you do?

PS This is what I do for a living.

Last week I was obsessed with eating pasta and fresh green salads, this might be from the new walking routine I started last week. Yes, I'm still walking in the mornings on Megan's Beach and loving the fresh start to each day. Since I've started cooking this year I have found it difficult to stick with a recipe, which is why I love making pasta, I feel as though pasta doesn't have any 'rules.' Besides the yummy shrimp and veggie pasta dish above I also made a huge pan of lasagna that is out of this world amazing (sorry no photo.) Do you have a favorite pasta dish?
Now I just need to find something new to make this week that's not involving so much pasta (giggle), suggestions?

This weekend we went for a sail on the Jester out of Secret Harbor on St Thomas, it was perfect! Eric has been working as a captain on the Jester for the last few weeks and this was the first chance I had to go out with him. We sailed from St Thomas across the sound to Lovango for a snorkel, had a fresh grilled lunch onboard, and relaxed with a cocktail in hand on the cushioned foredeck's beanbags in the sunshine (it was heavenly.) The Jester seats six guest comfortably (this has to be one of the most comfortable boats I've been on in the USVI), has a fresh a water shower, a private head, a swim ladder, snorkel gear, great tunes, an open bar, and even the option to learn to sail. I'd highly recommend a sailing adventure on the Jester! Here is a link to their website sailjester.com
