Why does the week go by so fast when you're on vacation? We've been in Maine this week hanging out with my family and friends and having a blast - I'm just not ready for it to be over. We have a few more days left and plans to visit more wonderful Maine people. Today we're hiking into the woods to see the greenhouse my brothers been building and have a bonfire.
What are you're plans for the weekend?

St John has few secluded beaches like Brown Bay and Haul Over Bay where it is common to find discarded clothing left behind by illegal immigrants entering into the United States. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be in their “shoes.”

Today I am right where I want to be and couldn't wish for anything else.
In Maine with my family and friends that have known me since day one - nothing else like it!
Lucky me!

I always wish that my cats could travel with me, for selfish reasons, I don't think they would like it. I've tried to take them with me in my car before to check the mail in town to see if they would even like a little bit of adventure, that was a big NO! Ming and Mambo are happy to stay at home.

I can't remember the last time I was so excited it was Friday, maybe last March. Today I have one more wedding to photograph for the season and then I'm officially going to take a vacation. I'm beyond excited to have some off time, travel, see family, play, and relax!!! Stay tuned for some of my adventure photos over the next couple of weeks. Hope everyone else has a great weekend too!!!

I am counting down the day's until we're in Maine and eating dinner with my family.
I'm not sure which if I miss more the fresh Maine lobster or the fresh Maine corn? Is there a meal that's from your home state that you miss eating?
Mmmmmmmmm......

I don't know where this photo is or where I found it on the internet, but I would love to spend the day exploring here. Doesn't it look so mysterious?

The Hidden Reef Eco-Tours is a must do while on St John. We went on a guided kayaking and snorkeling adventure on the East End of St John out of Haul Over Bay. My favorite part of the adventure was kayaking as our guide, Jen, talked about the flora along the shoreline. It really made me see the island in a new way.

I’m not a huge fan of snorkeling but this tour was by far the best snorkeling I’ve seen on St John. A lady in our group actually said the snorkeling that we did that day with Hidden Reef Eco-Tours was better then what she had seen when she snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef. Here a few photographs of what we saw while snorkeling.

Happy Birthday Brandi!!!
If money, time, and travel werent' an obstacle, I would say we should spend your day swimming with the elephants. I'm stretching my arms all the way to Cincinnati to birthday squeeze you!
XOXO

Wow, what a week…. actually it’s been a busy few months, but I’m almost to the end of my wedding season. I’m starting to get really excited about having more time to myself and to do a little traveling. It would also be lovely to be in this photo with a group of friends while the sunset on the beach. What are you up to this beautiful summer weekend?

I just listened to an interview on the Diane Rehm Show with Jane Fonda talking about her new book called "Prime Time." I can't believe Jane is 73 and she says she's the happiest she's ever been. Of course her book talks about rethinking exercise, diet, and relationships as an older woman. I hope she brings inspiration to woman all over the world to live life to it's fullest no matter what your age is.

You too can listen to the conversation HERE.

When’s the last time you played hooky?
The other afternoon Eric and I decided the day was too beautiful to not enjoy it by being outside. So, we left a ton of office work to go to the beach. It felt so great to blow-off the afternoon and go for a swim on a hot Caribbean summer day. The ocean was beyond refreshing and I still don’t regret it for a second. I highly recommend playing hooky one of these summer days.

Have you ever been to Central Park in New York City?
I once lived a few blocks from it and would spend days or weekends photographing the trees in Central Park. I found the park to be a part of my life that made sense and that I needed while living in the city.

So, when I recently heard on NPR that someone made a map of 19,933 trees in Central Park I couldn't help but stop everything else to listen to the show. It took Mr. Barnard and Mr. Chaya two years to identify and map all the trees in the park. Can you imagine?

PS Photos I made walking around the city here.

Do you equate your mom to an animal? My mom has always been the crow to me and I've never seen a crow on St John. I miss her. I'm so looking forward to seeing her in a couple of weeks, yay!!!

I keep thinking that one of these days going to the beach will be boring, but that is just not the case. Really I would like nothing more then to have a whole day at the beach, maybe this will be what I do all Sunday? Do you have beach plans or weekend plans?

The Overlook of Trunk Bay Beach on St John.

I have been looking at this view and photographing on this beach for almost 5 years -  and I'm still not tiered of looking at it. In fact I still find myself in disbelief of how beautiful it is and how blue the ocean looks! I'm so happy to call Trunk Bay Beach my studio and spend so much time there making photographs like these HERE!

Truth be told, I hate to exercise, it just feels like such a chore. I wasn’t born with an amazing metabolism and have to do something to not be a big fatty. I happen to love to walk and can walk for hours, so I try to walk fast and call it exercising. The last few weeks I can’t seem to get enough of walking and have started to look forward to my walks along Leinster Bay. I think I’m turning into an old lady, but I don’t care. How do you get motivated to work out?

The other day I saw a sea turtle along my walk, amazing! Check out these photos of my favorite sea turtle on St John HERE.
