What are you doing for Halloween this year?
Eric and I have been so involved in moving that we haven't made any plans or a costume. We might just end up watching a scary movie at home. Wish I could go back in time to this photo from a few years back with my friends.
Have fun!!!

Well, it’s official I’ve moved from St John to St Thomas and I now have time to blog, yay!!! The last week of moving has been exhausting and I’m really excited to start the fun stuff of ‘nesting’ in my new home. The new apartment is absolutely perfect; lots of windows with beautiful Northern light and a lovely cool breeze, a nice view of Magen’s Bay, plenty of room for all of my stuff, a yard for my cats to play in, a huge kitchen for Eric to cook in, and fantastic neighbors living above us. Eric and I are hoping to have a house warming party soon to share it with our friends. Here are a couple of photographs of our new place:

PS Halloween post coming up....

I wish I could just move my whole house like in this photo above. It would save me so much time from packing and unpacking. I'm almost done with the packing part and hope to be back to blogging at the end of the week, the latest Monday:)
Have a great week everyone and I will be blogging next week from St Thomas with photographs from our move from one little island to another.
XOXO

It's feeling a lot like a Monday here on St John at Sweet Bottom. Did you have a nice fall weekend in the States? Eric and I spent the weekend packing our stuff into boxes and getting ready to move this week over to St Thomas. So, I didn't make any fun beach photos this weekend to share with you all. However I did decide that I am going to take advantage of the next few days and go for a swim every morning because I'm not going to be able to walk to the beach at our new apartment. Photo's of my beach here.
Hope everyone has a great week and that I can find enough time this week to post a few blogs of what it's like to move from one island to the next.

PS Don't you love the 'Dream Man Arm Pillow' above?

This past week I've been completely consumed with finding a new apartment. Eric and I have decided to move back to St Thomas and have found an amazing place to call home that overlooks Magen's Bay. The photo above is our new porch and shows our view of the bay. Doesn't it look like the perfect spot to start a small herb garden?

I'm surprised at how excited I am to be living back on St Thomas - don't get me wrong the last year on St John has been great. I can't get over the feeling that I'm always camping on St John and think that St John is too rural for me.

So, I'm spending the weekend packing and getting ready for the move. As well as enjoying St John's irreplaceable gorgeous beaches. What are you up to this lovely weekend?

How was your weekend?
Mine just sort of unraveled it's self into wonderfulness - nothing was really planned and everything was perfect.
I had a great weekend full of friends, laughter, sunshine, a bonfire, and a boat ride to Jost Van Dyke to drink painkillers at the Soggy Dollar. I had a blast, thank you friends for making it happen!!!

Do you have any old friends that you miss? I have done a good amount of moving in the last 10 years and have lost contact with a lot wonderful people. I just reconnected with one of my favorite friends that I haven't spoken with in years and she's coming to visit me this winter. Yay!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!! She's in the photo above - doesn't she just scream fun?

How amazing is this bed?
Can you just imagine how inspiring your dreams would be if you slept in this organic cotton bed next to the ocean? I think I could spend a day and a night in this bed next to the ocean, aaahhhhhhh!

Lately I’ve been obsessed with this amazing mud mask that our guide introduced us to on our hike to the Boiling Lake on Dominica. The mud is from the Valley of Desolation, right out of the ground, (I should say right out of the extremely hot as in boiling ground) full of minerals that make my face feel amazing. I was lucky enough to sneak a little home with me. Do you have a mud mask that you love?

To pluck or not to pluck you eyebrows?
For the longest time I didn't even think I had eyebrows until my mother pointed out the fact that my eyebrows needed to be groomed (the photo above shows them un-groomed.) My mom brought me to a lady that waxed my brows and made them cute and little, so I attempted to keep them up later by plucking. My mom's mom has drawn her eyebrows in since I've known her.... I keep meaning to ask her if she was once a plucker.
What do you do with your eyebrows?

Dominica is not known for it’s restaurants and can sometimes be a challenge finding a place to eat when it is off-season. Dominica is known for its abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables which makes for some of the tastiest food I've ever eaten. Dominica is so fertile that the streets are lined with fruit trees, you would never starve in Dominica.

This is what I would recommend based on my vacation on Dominica for food.....

How was your weekend?
Eric and I spent the weekend on St John. Saturday night we went to La Plancha del Mar and watched ‘Super Troopers’ and ate dinner, it was a lot of fun. They serve four courses and sequence the food and drinks with the movie; example – Scene 3 (course 3) ‘Drunken Pigs’ is the name of the meal and the drink is a ‘Canadian Tuxedo.’
Sunday we drove out to the south side of St John and walked the Yawzi Trail, hiked out to Drunk Bay to make a couple ‘coral people’ and went for a swim in Salt Bay. The water is so warm right now on St John.

PS Later today I’m posting photos of the food I ate on Dominica!

I don't know what it is about a Sunday but I feel as though no matter what I have the right to do nothing on a Sunday. What are you doing today? I've started the day with a mask from the boiling lake (photos coming soon) and I'm wondering if it's going to keep raining all day here on St John. Eric and I are thinking about going out to the south side of St John and doing the Ram Head trail. The south side doesn't get that much rain.

Hope everyone has a Funday Sunday!!!

Hands down my favorite thing to do on Dominica is soak in one of the natural hot spring pools.

When we stayed in Trafalgar we where in walking distance to a handful of different spas in Wotton Waven; Trafalgar Falls – a short hike down to the ‘Father Waterfall’s’ river for a natural soak in the river, Rainforest Shangri-la Resort – has a little hike down to 3 small pools along the side of a river for a private soak (all above photos are of Rainforest Shangri-la's pools), Screw’s – has hand built pools from river rocks each pool has a different temperature with cooling waterfalls, plays great reggae, stays open till 10 pm, serves fresh fruit, and is a popular social hangout for Dominicans (Screw’s is my favorite.) There are a few more hot spring spas in the Wotton Waven area but I didn’t get a chance to go to all of them.
